Ladies! We did it!

We had a great season and we won the last game against Code Red! Dang it that was fun! They made us work hard to!

3 beautiful goals - Grace had the first followed by the ever so wonderful special K - aka krystal.

I will remind you that i was on mid, and almost scored! maybe next year! Connie baby ran like hell, megan had those scissors, ashley was putting her hands on a lot of waits - rascal! Michelle was chasing poor Lindy! Virginia - tenacious was she not! Whoo Hooo! Sue was hot and karen woooo - she was wearing cosmetics for the last game. Soley - you were the fastest ever last nignt! The forwards were busy busy busy! Mid was well also very and D had to contend with some fast forwards.

Coach ferg got a brand new shinny whistle and our wmd got some gift certificates at a very nice and extremely practical girly shop!

We also went out afterwards, with some of the members of code red and it was like a family reunion! Nice to see Lorne, Lindy, Judy & Heather as well as their all grown up kids!

I also welcome more stories about last night - cuz well, next you'll know i will have scored!

Overall fun. I look forward to winter stories and pictures.

Game 11! Gulp!

Yes Ladies it was a rough game!

Bottom of the ninth, the bases were loaded - oops! Wrong sport!

Really, who let the Villains out! And that number 10 who was 6'6" tall at least with those oak legs! And who was it that left that bruise right under my shin pads! ouch!

Game Hightlights best i can recall:

a) Friggin' Karen was hot!
b) Tracey gave Karen penalty shot practice. Your welcome karen!
c) Tracey blocked a ball in nets for Karen!
d) Tracey swore - violently - at Connie! Well she pointed 2 guns in my face after the ball hit my arm by accident! What could i do!
e) Meghan was back in full force with the wall of steel.
f) Grace baby was also back!
g) Nat stayed sober and managed to borrow some kleats and really smelly socks!
h) Jen was wearing the wrong shorts!
i) WMD got another friggin' pain in her neck! Urgh! I hate succer punches, this pain stems from our game with the Lunachicks.
j) Looks like a bbq is being planned, Cindy is the instigator, meghan will coordinate.
k) A social with code red & black for our last game is in the works, tracey will make the call!
l) oh yeah! the score 5-0
m) there was a social at Quinns

I'm assuming we'll have another productive and challenging practice this Saturday? I will be looking to incorporate more tactical group play and work on defense to offense transition play which should help you guys during games. I also have noticed a great improvement in certain players to instinctively move when they release the ball, should do some more work on that. Also, if you guys have a game tonight I would be interested to come watch the team in a game situation and to pin-point things to work on during practice.

Hey soccer womyn, our next game is at 6:15PM, home field in Greenborough against the Lynwood Villains. There is no practice on Saturday.

Game 10 - Win 3-1

Now you know! I am motivated by pure self interest. That is right, make me a forward (second time!) and a midfielder (first time!) and i will post immediately, keep me on d, and will do my usual exceptional best, although d is the most important position especially with our lineup which includes of course me, meg, connie, gill, sarah, donna, and a host of others! Send me on holiday, and well, mum is the word other than bragging about cool cafes in mtl and such on email. So there you have it! At least I am honest!

Now for the game, if we take a theoretical actor network (ANT) analysis, the weather is considered an actor, and well, let me tell ya it was special! Here is the data from Environment Canada

The High:: 30.5°C
The Low:: 17.5°C
Precip. Total:: 19.2 mm

As for precipitation, it happened in the 2 hours we were on the field, and the rain drops were a centimeter in diameter and the lightning in the Carleton Place sky magnificient! At least this time there were no tornados and other teams in the city played, unlike the last time this happened! There are no measures for the mosquito/to no rain ratio, but lets say, the rascals snacked through our socks for goodness sakes! The most striking element of the weather though was the wonderful trail of droplets behind our feet as we ran, dang, it made us looked like we had wings on our feet! There were also the great slides for the ball by their keeper, the stretching of our shoes, and donna wanting to play in skins! I think it also drowned my camera :(

Now we played the great CPSC Rangers WR5 who were all in their late teens and early twenties w/out one token mature womyn! We of course won 3-1 and was it ever a fun game. We had 3 subs, they had 10. We subbed sparingly they frequently. So according my mathematical machismo - we were the equivalent of the Canadian U19 National team!

Lui (the philosopher, cheerleader & critic), gave us a great lesson on Nagaland at quinns.
Lui, also gave us the fergus play by play, namely, he demo'd fergus' body language as he observes the players on the field! Hilarious!
Connie was workin' friggin' hard as sweeper! that is a really scarry job
Have i said that i was both a midfielder and a forward yet!
They were making an offside net for us that we got caught in on numerous occasions! Shame i do not know the offside rule!
Crystal got grumpy! But we have her shirt and Crystal we love you so don't be grumpy!

aks Cindy about her mishap and why she had to leave the field really fast at one point! Hilarious! A technological design failure and well i think the makers should be notified ;)

Coach fergus was great - he did the subbing just like they do in the world cup, and played us in not typical positions, which gave us a chance to try new stuff!

hello ladies
for the record, i was not 'sucking back brewskies' thanks for asking. it was the previous game that nat had a small buzz going on. and it wasn't number 17, it was number 24...or as Donna likes to call her 'Beer'.
on another note, congrats on your win. you guys make me proud. i love being a member of the untamed family. we rock....the rest suck...or are just big babies.
i'm over in England, enjoying the freezing cold. i miss you all and will be back soon enough.

Game 9 and other Stuff

Ladies! I have been remiss.

Yes we won Game 9 agains Code Black with a score of 6-0. Pei got 4 goals (i will collect recruitment fees later!), Jen got 1 and who got the other one?

I was having some ball in centre issues, nat was sucking back brewskies while playing - as did #17 on their team. There was also cheerleaders - all boyz except for the girls! And then they played together in the dark drinking brewskies. John was our coach - such a patient guy. You can see the photos here.

and, as part of our fatten up the forwards campaign, Peigham here is eating this honkin' buffalo burger we got her at Quinns. We were all very impressed!

We are moving down in the standings but are one above those who shall not be named!

Glad you guys enjoyed practice I had a tonne of fun as well, you're all are a very coachable bunch and its nice to see the improvement developing from beginning of a drill to the end. Congratulations on the win also!! by the sounds of it you guys dominated that game, perhaps we'll work on some finishing next practice and ensure a 6 nothing pounding next time...Like I said last practice, I wasn't emphasizing the finishing at all on the crossing drill, we'll put more concentration on that next practice.

I go to montreal for a coupla games and look what happens! It must a been the lingering spirit of zindane that caused some kaffufles and the score keeper got confused and awarded points to the wrong team!

But seriously ladies - what is the scoop? So i am sitting here in a fine cafe called laika that plays groovy lounge tunes on a sweltering steamy afternoon surrounded by people (men) with really great hair cuts drinking and alonge and grapefruit juice and wondering about the game!

Ladies, first and foremost... thanks for having me back for two games!! what a pleasure it was to play with you all...some of you new to me, some of you old...to which i mean old friends, and not old as in age!

My temporary return to O-Town was marked by two games with the Untamed Womyn. True to the untamed name, we played in highly volitile and nontheleast bit tamed weather... my favorite. The Almonte team was young and chippy. We certainly had a fair share of words being exchanged.... and i'm never THAT innocent, and like to have my two cents in there ;)
Ahhh i digresss, We played a tough game, in crap weather, against a bunch of whiners worthy of being called primadonna's, drama queen's, prom girls... or just teenagers (in my grand old age of 24 i can justify calling people that :) BUT, we had a good time, and even scored a goal.

As an apt end to any soccer game, we paid our respects to the game at Quinn's pub, and Quinn himself. Man i LOVE that place!! Glad so many ladies made it out to check out the 'hot spot'. I only hope we didn't frighten our host with our relatively untamed conversation verging on the slighty scandalous side :p

Now, last night's game against the Capital United youngsters was another hard fought battle. Not sure what happened with that, to be honest. They had no subs, but lots of fast legs and skill. One of their players got schmucked...for lack of a better term....with a combo hit by Soley(a full 2 feet taller then this chick), then got rear-ended and steamrolled by Virginia...tough break kid! So, we had a 10 person advantage....with which we were able to score ONE goal to their four. oops.

I like to put blame on others for these turns of events, and i give last night's award for "Most Controversial and Cohooting Referrying" to 'Pylon' - our mini ref. Not only did he make a bunch BS calls about the ball being out of play(granted, he couldn't see over the blades of grass in centre field to the sidelines in the far corners), but he also was in some conspiracy with the coach of the little CapU's (sounds like a dorky sorority don't you think?). The game was a bit chippy, but whatever....we are untamed Womyn, and don't seem to mind a bit of attitude...not that we have any of course!

All right, i'll wrap this up....it was a pleasure playing with you ladies for the past two games. Not sure what happens when i return for good, but we'll see. Keep this blog up to date.. it's great and i look forward to seeing pictures and highlights form the games on the site. Be sure to visit Quinn's, although, don't enjoy it TOO much on me.. i might get a bit jealous.

Game 6 - Stormy Weather!

Wholly tomolli!

What a dark and stormy monday soccer night in the dim and lurkium suburbs cat woman!

Shesh! We played the very young - as in prom girls - and undefeated Almonte team in the storm of the century! That is right, hail, wind, dark clouds, raindrops the size of soccer balls, thunder, and lightning! in some parts of town typhoon winds that took down power lines and i hear a tornado! But nooooooo! Do you think logic and rationality would prevail and the game would be cancelled! Those young 18-19 year old cute referees are scared to cancel a womyn's game! So on we played - soggy and cold and yours truly - a little grumpy and well dehydrated from all the Canada day cottage alcohol and coffee consumption!

At one point seemed like i had a hard time getting out of the goalie's box when she was tossing that little round thing called a ball. Hmm! also seems like i was having a hard time keeping the ball out of the middle - but hell so did Portugal the other day! Dang, the yelling on the sidelines was brutal, to the point that the ever so wonderful soley came and consoled the shivering cold and wet moi!

But, since i am the only contributor to this blog, i can say whatever! So, Megan and I on defence scored 2 goals each. Yap! We did 4 breakaways right on throught that team of teeny bobbers! We just hipchecked them aside and off we went as they went flying and they got yellow cards for getting in our way ;)

On a sad note, we lost 2-1, which is not bad cosidering we scored first! These goils were grumpy though, cuz ah, well, we had our proms in the 80s and they are going to theirs so - you know it is hard on those youngin's. Then they said they were faster than us - and well that just made us grumpy and faster!

This puts us 7th in the standings, midway, still one above well they who shall not be named....

We then went out the Quinns, a fine pub selected by our ozzy team mate shannon & her pal nat - they picked the lovely little spot cuz ah - well - as shannon said - "the bartender". Who are we to argue with a sistah! The poutine was fine, some of the goils did shooters (guess who!), and Peignam ate the biggest burger in the whole universe with a guiness. We are trying to fatten her up. When i went to settle my bill, a guest at the bar asked if she ate the whole thing! "And a guinness" to he said! Wow!

Lui got to experience apres soccer with 8 or so canadian womyn - a new kind of conversation he had never experienced before - I am not sure he will let me talk to his nieces and nephews after that! Or well - let any of them visit the untamed ;)

Pei promised to bring a map of nagaland to the next game so that all you gals can get learned about this fascinating part of the world! Shannon will send that picture of pei eating that hamburger i hope!

Game 5 - Undefeated

Ladies! Undefeated!

We played Cumberland and what a great bunch they were and they had those smashing blue outfits. I feel a little bad that this was the first game they have not won (NOT!). They were 4-0 heading into that game - wow - we are hot!

The Untamed performed wonderfully!

Connie & Ashley scored together! The ball was kicked all the way up the field by one of those Connie Classics and Ashley took the opportunity to toss it into the net!

I got to play stopper! Either they are moving me around a bunch cuz i can't play any position or they are reckoning I can do it! i figure it is cuz i run as fast as the wind! I also had a small little teeny weeny mishap - lucky for me the ref was awestruck and in disbelief - yes - i was so committed to ensuring the ball did not go into the net, that i ah - grabbed it in front of the goalie! As she was being kicked i came to my senses, dropped it and looked innocent! Phew! There were a few hand balls too!

Grace the wonderful did get a little yellow card! A first for us all! Oh well!

and as far as WMD is concerned:

Not only are we a great bunch of soccer players, but I can't remember the last time I had so much fun at a game. In part this is due to the good nature of the Cumberland team - but the larger contribution to that are my fellow Untamed! Despite the fact that we kicked our own keeper a couple of times, and fought each other over the ball once or twice, I have to say that you all are one of the most enjoyable gaggle of gals I've ever had the pleasure to be associated with.

and the ever so wonderful Sara wanted to congratulate Karen saying she was so amazing!

She made a LOT of saves and I've never seen her play so aggressivelly and pounce on the ball.

As for Nat, she had a bit of a hissy thinggy on the field with #4, she almost walked off the field!

We also had some fine coaching from John! and some additional pointers from Lui!

A poor Cumberland girl broke her foot, her mom was called in and well the incredible hulk carried her off the field! It was quite the scene! Then all the Untamed suddenly had sore feet and wanted to be carried off! Mahem ensued and the ref was dismayed and shaking his head! What could we do!

Then well! There was this linesman! All dressed in black with those knee socks & a flag! Well lets just say that with cutie patutie (wmd label) running up and down the sidelines amazed at our skills, hell, we forgot to watch our own team play!

Game 4 - What a flash!

From Connie:

During the game when we were under enormous pressure Connie the sweeper took the ball away from the other team to the sideline and connected with a very hard air ball to switch it to the other side of the field. Unfortunately it dinged our poor Majella smack in the head. After a while Connie asked Majella if she was okay and her response was "Yes I'm fine - this is SOCCER not BALLET!)

Also although we had to cancel the game due to inclimate weather - we were outplaying these young things, Daphne had scored a great goal and Karen our most amazing goalie was our WALL OF STEEL - she made many game saving saves in the first 30min before the lightening!

News from Soley:

have a bit of bad news. I am going to have to sit out for the next couple of weeks to take care of my legs. They are getting worse and the dr's syas that if I don't I will have permanent damage. I am very sad as I LOVE playing. ANyways I will stil come to CHEER!!!!

What a Coaching debut - I can't even manage to get the game completed!

I was very impressed with the play last night, however brief. A good goal
scored after some good passing, a couple of other chances, and great
support from everyone on defence in our end.

From WMD:

We were up 1-0 when we got lighteninged out. We waited the 20 mins and then she ("The Boob Ref") cancelled. The Untamed was on fire! It was a total shame that it was rained out b/c the game was ours. We were in much better control. It will have to be re-scheduled.

Once again the Untamed Womyn come home with a win, a hefty one - 5-2 against a fine team in Smith Falls.

Highlights:
* WMD was enjoying the lights and the june bugs on the basketball field - there were pain killers involved!
* Krystal hit that post again! Girl just keep kicking it will go in one day!
* I got a high five and a great game comment from coach Ferg - i felt so proud :)
* S cubed - there was some Stretching in Solidarity for Soley - the counts were in German, Japanese, Naga, French and English. Nat is gonna work on her Punjabi for next week!
* That tall number 6 on the other team - yikes she could kick 7 run
* Sarah was on fire in D
* Something tells me we won't be seeing Connie on D anymore! It was fun having you as part of the wall of steel, even if only for a short while.
* We had 2 cheerleaders!

The Keeper!

Soley baby! We know this is your home page - but you know what? You're gonna have to let me get an action shot of you lookin' sporty! Til then...

The score - 1 - 1 - with the Lunachicks with our pal Maure as the coach. Who scored anyway? Always a fine game with these babes, mostly clean xcept for #9 who took our WMD down! Then there was that fast #12, but I like to think i outran her. Maure said: "you Untamed are looking athletic compared to last year and i think you are better than code R". We can trust her judgement! My guess is all that winter indoor & judo and whatnot did it!

Our next game on Monday is at our home field - Canterbury - at 18:30 against the Nepean Lunachicks. In past years they have been a fun team to play against. Our home jersey is Red. Please let WMD know if you do not have a red jersey. Please bring both jerseys in case they are wearing Red like their sister team last week.....

If you cannot make the game on Monday, please let WMD.

We had a practice last Saturday from 09:00 to 11:00 at De La Salle High School on Old St Patrick Rd. for all of those who can make it out. Coach Cindy was superb the players however lacked a certain ah! discipline!

The Untamed Won!

Yes it is true! We won our first Game! That girl from Nagaland sure can score! Coach Fergus tried us all over the place and well lets just say that a certain Tracey got to be a forward for the first time in her life! A position normally for the 18 year old blondes with pony tails - the world as we know it is changing! The defence line was wicked, the goalie wonderful, Connie was superb at getting us in the correct positions. WMD (Wonderful Manager Donna) was a little incapacitated due to her 1/2 marathon run the day before, dang those legs i say! We also felt all professional cuz coach Fergus had a really swish blue magnet map of the picth he used for strategic edge purposes on the side lines. We were pretty awesome ladies - awsome!

Free Trade Soccer Tournament

Gillian has kindly organized for a few of the Untamed players to play in the Fair Trade Soccer Tournament.  Looks like Tracey, Gill, Sara, Nathalie and will be playing at Brewer on June 11th.

Our team will be fundraising will be fundraising for the Childhaven Orphanage in Nepal or potentially Haitian Sensations to raise funds for the Canadian Agency Acesso.

This is what they would like to collect:

donations of used soccer balls,
soccer cleats,
soccer jerseys or
other sports equipment,
as well as cash donations to help buy new fair trade balls for
Childhaven.
Personal donation to Childhaven directly (see instructions on their website)

The OCSL is putting on a C4 Referee clinic May 13 - 14, 2006.Location will be the Greenbank/baseline area.The OCSL is hosting this C4 clinic in response to the need for referees inthe district.Although new C4s will not be able to officiate OCSL games immediately it isour vision that in a couple of years when the new C4's receive their C3level certification that there will be a new pool of referees to pull from.Thereby alleviating the strain we are all currently feeling when it comes toofficiating in the district. If we do not all start to work towards asolution now we will discover that there will be even more issues down theroad.This is an ideal opportunity for smaller clubs to promote 1 or 2 interestedindividuals and help with the strain on the officials. All individuals arewelcome and will not be refused, however, ages 16+ are preferred.If you have any questions please do not hesitate in contacting the OCSLoffice.

April 23 - Manager's Update

Our home field is confirmed as Canterbury High School Field. This is located at 900 Canterbury Avenue.

The season officially begins Tuesday, May 23 (22nd being a statutory holiday) making our first game Monday, May 29. Still no game roster available.

We have a practice field for Saturdays at Uplands where we will practice for June - and then we'll re-visit July and August depending on what people would like to do.

Suggestions made for Untamed use of OISC team refund so far are:
-pay for the practice coaches
-refund for keepers (apparently some other OISC teams are paying keepers/refunding their registration)
-fill the apres-game cooler with drinks for everyone

Summer Plans - ESWMD - Manager's Update

Our Ever So Wonderful Manager Donna (ESWMD) - not to be confused with weapons of mass destruction ;) has forwarded the following update:

No official word regarding fields - although the Ottawa Business Park is a probable home field.
The Untamed has 21 players confirmed & registered.
A small amount of money has returned from the club +/- $200.00.

Practices:

Probably team practices on our own for the last half of May and the month of June.
Possibility of joining the regular practices with the other OISC teams for July and August.

ACTION ITEMs:
1. Confirm with our ESWMD if you will participate in Sat. Am Practices!
2. Send our ESWMD your short size - else it is large and xlarge for all!
3. Give the ESWMD ideas on how to spend the +/- 200$
